Me I was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1982 and grew up in a little town just outside the city until my father’s job required us to move to Atlanta, US in 1993. Due to my father’s 8-year limit contract my family wanted to make the most of our time in the US, so we would go on road trips covering nearly all corners of America, as well as our frequent trips back to our European home-turf. Driving from the east coast through all the amazing grand landscapes to the west coast really captivated me. The endless roads and farm fields with amazing cloud backdrops, the Grand Canyon with its enormous red holes, abandoned rusty cars in the dessert, old ghost towns that were still trapped in the 19th century, the big hills of beautiful San Francisco, and the natural untouched beaches of Oregon. It was then, at the age of 14, that my father handed me his old 35mm Leica and I first experimented with taking snap-shots of the amazing sights I saw on our long journey.

However, my exposure to art started long before my first real experience with photography. My parents have always been big art advocates and signed me up for various art classes ever since I was a 4-year old in Kindergarten. As I grew older, now living in the US, my parents encouraged me to continue going to art classes where I tried out anything from cartoon drawing classes to ceramic classes. Eventually, at the age of 16, I found my way back to photography: darkroom classes were offered at the art center I attended after school. I became captivated with playing in the black and white darkroom where I found it fascinating to gaze into the developer tray as my image was slowly appearing on the paper.

I decided to take my hobby further, and after graduating from the Atlanta International School with the International Baccalaureate diploma and Bilingual diploma I was accepted into my first choice college: the University of Westminster in London, England. After three years I graduated and received my BA (Hons) in Photographic Arts. The class's final project exhibition was held in June 2003 at the Atlantis Gallery of the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London. My project, “Mañana, Mañana,” consisted of photographs comparing my perception of old Spain vs. new Spain, looking into the impact tourists as well as natives have had on the Costa Blanca region’s development.

Since my graduation in 2003 I moved back to Atlanta where I now live with my husband Patrick. Thanks to his fantastic artistic views and input he is helping me develop my photographic style further, constantly challenging, pushing, and encouraging me to take my photography further.
